On May 7, 2011, Holly Walker of the Utah National Guard here in Blanding presented Carla Thode this Quilt of Valor, made by the Grayson Country Quilters, in honor of her husband, Sergeant First Class James E. Thode, who died on December 2, 2010 in Afghanistan.
Holly said, "Please tell the quilt guild how much Carla Thode appreciated receiving the beautiful quilt you made. We snapped the picture after the tears had stopped--she couldn't believe how much time and effort had gone into making it and how pretty it was and said she will always value the love it represents from our community."
