Challenge Quilt - January 2012

Kathy Hurst is heading up the Grayson Country Quilters Challenge Quilt for 2012.  Kathy selected a quilt pattern, Cosmetique,  which is made of 1" finished squares.  The good news, it is all strip piecing!

The Challenge Quilt will be worked on at home, by guild members who desire to accept the challenge!  Each month, Kathy will provide Guild Members instructions for the 'Next Step' of the quilt.  By the end of the year, those participating will have a completed quilt.

January Instructions...

1" Squares
Fabric Requirements

Assorted light fabrics:  25 fat quarters
Assorted dark fabrics:  35 fat quarters
Flange:  1/2 yard
Backing:  Enough for a queen size quilt

Gather fabrics before the February meeting.  If you would like to, you can cut the fat quarters into strips.

For the 1" squares, cut the fat quarters into 1.5" strips (cut so the strips are 18" long for best use of fabric.)

2010 4th of July Quilt

The 2010 Presidency chose the quilt pattern "Califon" from the Love of Quilting magazine, July/August 2009 issue.  The quilt is a Mark Lipinskit design.  Most of the material used was from members "stash" . The quilt was cut and brought to a meeting where all members sewed, pressed or just gave moral support. The blocks were then put together by Cathy Cosby and quilted by Jeri Montella.
