End of Year Holiday Party

It was a fun, festive evening for our 2017 members.  Twenty seven ladies attended the holiday party held at the library.  The presidency had the room decorated so festive with the smell of simmering Wassail filling the air.  We sipped our hot brew and visited before "Benyaki" catering served us a delicious Hawaiian meal of pork, rice and noodles with yummy sauce followed by chocolate cupcakes.  We highly recommend him!!  A few ladies wore their "festive" shirts and sweaters and also leggings!!!  Kathy summarized our year regarding our donations to the hospital nursery and other charitable contributions.  We really did an amazing jobs - pat on the back ladies!!  Our new presidency for 2018 was introduced:  Sally Lyman will become our new president with Sydney Christensen and Marcia Robinson as her aides.  Sally is such a fun lady so I'm sure we are in for a lot of laughs!  They gave a brief summary for 2018 with our first sew weekend to be held January 19-20 at the library.  We will keep our meeting place at the library with general meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of each month beginning at 6:00 p.m. (unless it's a sew-weekend)  All local quilters are encouraged to join us for 2018.  Membership is $20 - PLEASE JOIN US!!  Beginners to advanced are welcome - there is something for every skill.

November Sew Weekend

We had our last sew weekend of the year for our November event.  It was a time to finish UFO's or start a new project.  As always there were many laughs, great food and a lot of conversations!  Sometimes we talked too much and sometimes it was dead silence!  Beautiful things were completed but not without mistakes along the way (ask Kathy! ha)  She did a little bit of "un-sewing".  Show and tell on Friday night proved the ladies have been very busy.  We were excited to have Bonnie and Kathleen back.  They've been recuperating from some health issues.

October Meeting

A large group of ladies attended the October 18th meeting.  It was a very full evening of demonstrations, show and tell, great nachos and strip poker!!!  There were quite a few ladies who have been busy since the September retreat - many very pretty projects were shown.  Kathy talked about the remainder of the year and encouraged everyone to continue with making baby blankets for the hospital.  Nicole also brought pillow case kits to be sewn for humanitarian projects.  The material was donated by Redd's Ace hardware.  Three fun demos were presented by Nicole Ivins (Christmas stockings), Merri Shumway (Hunter's Star and how to make 8 half square triangles at once) and Gayle Shumway (weaving ornaments).  Deb, Cathy and Debbie made super nachos and dessert for the group.  The evening ended with strip poker - quilter's version!! Merri was the ultimate stripper so Deb has passed the crown to her.  She won the stack of Christmas themed strips.
