Quilter Profile - Betty Shumway

1.  I have been quilting for 25 years.

2.  I have made approximately 100+ quilts. 

3.  What pattern or type of quilt do you enjoy making?  Turning Twenty.

4.  Is there something distinctive about your quilting style?   No

5.  What is your earliest quilting memory?   Lea Hurst helped me to like guilting and make them

6.  I have been a member of Grayson Country Quilters since 2005.

7.  I was taught to quilt by Lea Hurst and Karen Dufur.

8.  Who do you usually make quilts for?   My family

9.  My favorite quilt I ever made was Martha's Vineyard because Lea Hurst was so helpful to me as I made this quilt.

1.  I have been quilting for 25 years.

3.  What pattern or type of quilt do you enjoy making?  Anything.

4.  Is there something distinctive about your quilting style?   I try anything new

5.  What is your earliest quilting memory?   Lea Hurst helped me cut a pattern and told me how much material to buy and how to make it.

6.  I have been a member of Grayson Country Quilters since 2000.

7.  I was taught to quilt by Lea Hurst.

8.  Who do you usually make quilts for?   My family

9.  My favorite quilt I ever made was a buggy barn quilt because it was such elegant material

1.  I have been quilting since 1956.

2.  I have made approximately 40 or 50 quilts. 

3.  What pattern or type of quilt do you enjoy making?  Love Star

4.  Is there something distinctive about your quilting style?   The way I do corners

5.  What is your earliest quilting memory? Watching my mother and grandmother quilt.

6.  I have been a member of Grayson Country Quilters for six years.

7.  I was taught to quilt by my mother and mother-in-law.

8.  Who do you usually make quilts for?   family

9.  My favorite quilt I ever made was...  I love them all!

Quilt-a-thon

Grayson Country Quilters spent Friday evening, March 25th creating the raffle quilt for this year’s 4th of July celebration.  An assembly line style was set up and the quilt blocks and sashing were completed in approximately four hours.  Thanks to the 14 members who participated in Friday evenings event!
