May Sew Weekend

A large group attended the sew weekend in May.  Show and tell was huge so that means the quilt show will be so worth attending - plus there will be quilts for sale!!!  If you've always wanted a beautiful quilt but are not into sewing this will be the time to pick one up.  The country story will have small items and baked goods as well for purchase.  Don't forget to buy your tickets for the Patriotic quilt that is being raffled off.  It is a beauty!!!!  Tickets are being sold at Clark's Market on Wednesday's and Friday's - or you can contact any guild member to purchase them.  $5 for 3 tickets. The quilt show will be held at the Wellness Center from 11 - 4 on July 4th with the drawing at 4 pm.  Another sew weekend for members will be held June 23-24 at the library.  We will be finishing up all our quilts for the quilt show and working on charity blankets.  Feel free to stop by and visit and check out what is happening in our group.

Farm Days

The GCQ enjoyed hanging out at the Lyman Farm Monday and demonstrating to the school children how to tie a quilt.  Several young girls (and a few boys) tried their hand at tying.  A charity quilt was also worked on using a utility stitch.  The children seemed to have a great time with all the farm animals and other activities available.  Patti and Bruce deserved a big hand for putting this on every other year!! Patti is a member of our guild.  Tuesday turned out to be a windy/rainy day so we weren't able to share our quilting enthusiasm.  Hopefully some of them left thinking about maybe making a quilt or blanket of their own!!!  That's the goal!!!
She's getting the hang of it!!

Janet shows how it is done

Kathleen, Bonnie and Gail work on a charity quilt showing the "utility stitch" to students

Kathy - love the hat!
Our next meeting will be a "sew weekend" on May 19 & 20.  Bring your quilts to finish for the July 4th quilt show!!

April meeting location change

The GCQ April meeting will be held at the Blanding Library beginning at 6:00 p.m.  It is sure to be a fun one!  The Monticello Quilters have been invited to come enjoy an evening with us!  Karen from the Cortez Quilt Shop is our special guest.  She will do a show and tell, demonstration and have "goodies" for sale from her shop.  You can never have enough quilting "stuff" so come take advantage of shopping without leaving town!

The 4th of July raffle quilt top is complete and soon to be sent to our amazing long arm artist, Jeri Montella.  It is beautiful - look for the display at Clark's Market beginning in June.  This is our big fundraiser for the year!

I will post pictures of the April meeting next week.  Come join us!
